Christmas Eve morning we woke up to the much anticipated Snowmaggedon 2009. Someone (I didn't recognize him) snow blowed our sidewalk. Then we made the trek to IGH. The roads were fine so we got there in no time- only getting stuck in our own driveway. The Ds served yummy lasagna, salad, breadsticks and dessert.
The girls loved opening up their presents- I think the favorites - that they've been sharing very nicely were the bells

and the Little People manger set.
Then we went home and it was time for Kathryn to say good-bye to her pacifiers. (I know- I know she's almost 3 - why did she still have a pacifier- it was just for sleeping at night.) She put the first one into the stocking no problem, but was a little hesitiant about giving up the other one. She knew Santa was going to leave her something special in the morning, but it took Tommy saying " I bet Santa's going to bring you a princess dress up box" then she asked me to put it in the stocking and she went to bed.
In the morning we found beautiful presents wrapped and waiting from Santa.
But first we had to wait for Eleanor to wake up and eat some cinamon rolls (I think this would be a fun tradtion and next year we're going to attempt homemade vs. the can.)
Then time to open! Santa was very gnerous to the girls- bubble bath, rubber duckies, M&Ms, hair clips, Sit and See, doll bathtub and low- and behold a princess dress up box!
Then we opened the gifts from us to the girls. We've been doing Something you Want, Something you Need, Something to Wear and Something to Read. Instead of Wear we did Share (a Wiggles Chrismtas DVD- which was watched once and packed up for next year!) Anyway I'm a big fan of the system and I think it's going to really work well for our family. Although I'm not sure if new playdough counts as Something you Need?
Because of the snow storm Tommy had to go out and shovel- it was warm enough to make a snowman and Kathryn got bundled up and headed out.
And a different kind neighbor not only snow-plowed the sidewalk, but he also did our driveway (maybe he saw our adventure the previous morning.) Then we got ready and went to the Ps for a turkey dinner with all the delish fixings (cheesy brocholi, sweet squash, etc) and cheesecake for dessert.
(my favorite thing to do- looking at the holiday cards, letters and pictures)

We had already exchanged gifts with the Ps at Thanksgiving.
The girls received a dollhouse which they loves to play with and it is spacious enough to share.

Later in the afternoon we set Kathryn and Travis up with Cindarella while we played a new game called Things.
also told our parents that their newest grandchild (they were aware of the grandchild part) would be a GIRL! (Baby news in another post...)
We are happy we don't have to travel far to see our family at the holidays and that we are able to spend time with everyone at once. We know too many people who are breaking their backs running from house to house to eat the same food. So thanks Ds and Ps for feeding and having us over!!! Merry Christmas to all!
