1st Days of School

Tommy went back to his job of teaching math last week.  Labor Day was very late this year so we enjoyed the extra week of summer! He's teaching Pre-Algebra and Calculus.  I forgot to get a morning picture but Kathryn did a little photo shoot in the afternoon and got a couple shots of Daddy sporting his school spirit.

We decided to go to the Children's Museum with a mom from my mom's group and her three.  It was her son's third birthday! We usually go the Children's Museum on the free day and are accustomed to big crowds and lots of kid craziness. Not so much on the first day of school- no one was there. It was fantastic.

Eleanor's been there before, but this was her first really playing and having fun experience. Kathryn loved that she could run from area to area without having to wait. It was a great way to celebrate back to school.

Then on Wednesday Kathryn started school, too! (Eleanor, too but she mostly just crawls around.) We were wait-listed for ECFE. But there's a mom in our playgroup who runs a learning playgroup at her church and invited us to check it out. It's perfect! The  schedule is free play for about 1/2 an hour, then circle time (story, songs), a craft, snack and more free play.  We will try for winter ECFE because I think the separating is important, but for now this is a great fit! Every fourth week we do a field trip- Apple Orchard coming up!

Wednesday we went to Applebees for their teacher appreciation.  A couple of entires were $1.99 and mucho margaritas were $5.  So we did that for our fun back to school meal.  The place was full of people wearing lanyards and school spirit gear.
