Happy Birthday Carter! 

It's hard to believe she's five.  We didn't get her until she was about six months old, we did get her at a (gasp) pet store- we'd just seen Garden State at the Lagoon and wanted to do something else on a rainy Sunday afternoon so we randomly went to a pet store and found the CUTEST dog ever! Tommy has allergies so her beagle & poodle mix is perfect. And she was even on sale- a discount dog- I'm pretty sure they were going to put her down- so I feel like we saved her. Carter had been returned before so we had to promise we'd keep her.  We named her Carter- perhaps I'm the only one who's ever seen the Kate and Alley episode when Jenny's new friend Carter (a girl) is a total rebel. I later discovered through some investigation work that her old name was Miss Chester. Carter is much better name.  

Carter has no self control or disciple, she jumps on people, escapes from the yard, barks at everything, hates camping and nature, eats our food, basically a perpetual puppy, but she's a great snuggler, loves getting pets and giving licks, sniffing everything, taking walks and playing chase, tolerates Toddler Tugs and Baby Bawls and is the BEST dog ever! 

To celebrate this momentous occasion we took an entire family trip to Petco to get some treats and toys. Then we came home and sang Happy Birthday and ate brownies.
