Sunday-Monday

Sunday morning Tommy biked while Peter and Tom Z. ran around the lakes preparing for the marathon. TP even ran around Lk. of the Isles. Then we went to the Twins game with Brooke, Joe, Tyler, Zak, Kerri, Chris, Kris, and Jess. Later that night TP went to Chris's for a BBQ.

On Monday TP left for textbook workshops. It's sad that summer's almost over. But the company did pay for his lunch. And Carter got a haircut.

I just read the book Misconceptions by Naomi Wolf. It talks about the business side of pregnancy/delivery and basically how it's well- a business. I'm not sure it should be read while one is pregnant, but it did confirm my own choice and satisfaction using a midwife. Although the midwife does work for and with the hospital/doctors it seems as if the care is more person centered. The book had a lot to say about the high rate of C-Sections, being induced, and epidurals and how these types of "safety" interventions aren't only to protect hospitals from lawsuits- they speed up the business- allowing doctors more time- for more patients- or vacations, etc. It brought up a lot of questions that I want to go over at the next midwife appointment. It's actually very upsetting-frustrating how this wonderful time could really seem so slimy and it amazes me there aren't more women/family centered birthing facilities. Anyone want to start a new "business" with me? It could be a birthing center-coffee house-bookstore-wine bar-pilates/yoga studio-gift shop.

PS- Don't put regular (non-re-chargeable) batteries in the recharger- they will melt all over, produce a horrid smell, and burn the floor. Believe the charger's flashing lights!
